We are delighted to hear that financial planner Emma Baumback has been listed in the Top 35 Next Generation Advisers!
Emma, aged 29, is in the prestigious list compiled by New Model Adviser in recognition of her hard work studying to become a qualified financial planner and the help she provided during lockdown; shopping, collecting prescriptions and gardening for vulnerable people.
“Many people said I was too young to be a financial planner or, even worse, I didn’t look the part,” says Emma.
“So, passing the exams, becoming an adviser and now being listed in the top 35 is a vindication of all that. But the hard work hasn’t stopped. It’s not easy being a young female adviser in this industry, but it is 100 per cent worth it!’
“And I couldn’t have done it without my boss who believed in me and encouraged me to push myself.”
Managing director Jillian Thomas sent Emma on a leadership course and then promoted her from paraplanner to financial planner.
Jillian says: “The average financial planner is male and 58. So I really believe in bringing through the next generation; if only because there will be nobody left in the industry if we don’t do that.
“Emma showed potential and with a bit of support and hard work she has achieved amazing results. And I know there is more to come.”
A spokesman for the awards adds: “It barely needs saying that 2020 has been a very different year. But it has not stopped those who applied for our Top 35 from achieving new heights.
“Be it getting new qualifications, building new investment propositions, or offering pro-bono work for those who needed help in the pandemic, young planners have excelled despite the trying circumstances.”
