Jillian Thomas’ expertise surrounding the collapse of pre-paid funeral plan providers has been sought by Rip Off Britain LIVE's production team …
FUTURE Life Wealth Management has assisted BBC One’s Rip Off Britain LIVE programme with a feature highlighting the recent collapse of pre-paid funeral plan providers.
The show, which is broadcast daily at 10am, asked FLWM’s MD Jillian Thomas for her expert opinion on what’s happened within the sector - and what’s likely to unfold next.
The programme also highlighted the plight of those who have previously invested with these firms and subsequently lost money.
Jillian welcomed the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) decision to regulate the sector from July this year.
This will mean that funeral plan providers now have to sign up to a raft of new rules or stop selling plans altogether.
As Jillian comments: "What we've previously seen in the funeral industry can be likened to a perfect storm...
"We've seen a strain placed on these funeral plan providers throughout the pandemic as mortality rates have risen.
"In recent months, we've also witnessed significant inflation – of which we’re all too well aware.
“But this has also taken its toll on pre-paid funeral plan providers with cremation and burial costs rising too."
The edition of Rip Off Britain LIVE featuring Future Life Wealth Management’s MD Jillian Thomas was broadcast on Wednesday, May 18, at 10am. To watch, please log onto BBC iPlayer and follow this link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0017g49/rip-off-britain-2022-live-episode-8
